Stakeholder Engagement

Research and development projects in primary care inevitably impact upon a broad range of stakeholders, including

  • Patients and their carers/parents
  • All members of the pharmacy/practice team
  • Employers
  • Professional representatives
  • Surrounding health professionals
  • Commissioners

At the beginning of the project, it is time well spent to identify all the relevant stakeholders and to devise strategies for their engagement. This might be as key informants, as workshop attendees to help with study design or equally to contribute ideas about priorities towards the end of the project, and as people to help disseminate project results.
